I’m an undergraduate student pursuing a B.S in geology. I am working towards understanding the mechanisms and processes that have resulted in normal faulting in the Himalayas. I model the Himalayas in the lab by layering sand (brittle crust) on top of silicone (ductile crust) on an instrument that models compression and observe the fractures in the sand layers. Finding normal faulting in a convergence zone is a huge mystery and I’m really excited to be working towards piecing together this puzzle!
